Hand Hewn Wood exists because something is lost when a box beam comes out of a router untouched by a human hand. The ridges. The faceted shimmer of light across an adzed surface. The honest geometry of a timber squared by eye and shoulder.
Every piece that leaves the shop begins as raw stock and ends as a finished box beam or mantel through the same sequence the old timber framers used: scoring, juggling, hewing, finishing. The tools are broad axes and adzes, sharpened, balanced, and swung by someone who has been doing this long enough to know exactly how the wood will answer.
We don't replicate hand-hewn texture with grinders or stamped plates. We don't sell distressed lumber dressed up as antique. What we deliver is the real thing, made now, for homes and spaces across Jacksonville and the surrounding region.
Decorative box beams in pine, cypress, and reclaimed timbers. Hewn on all four faces or selectively, to your specification. Sizes from 4×4 up to 10×10 feature timbers.
One-of-a-kind mantels with the proportions, texture, and patina to anchor a room. Square-hewn or with traditional chamfered shoulders. All mantels are finished, never raw.
Headers, exposed ceiling work, posts, lintels, and one-off interior pieces designed around your space. We work directly with you, your designer, or your builder from sketch to install.
Replacing a damaged interior timber or matching an existing one? We replicate species, profile, and hewing pattern so the repair disappears into the original.
